When he committed his crime, he was just 18yrs old. All of us are rebellious at that age and tend to think and do things differently. At that age, he is very vunerable and easily draw to the wrong people who would use his as drug mule. I sincerely pray the GOS will pardon him and instead of taking his life, re-educate him to be a better person.

  34. hariharan says:

    please spare him Mr.President

  35. anak sarawak says:

Is S’pore’s President so weak and incapable that he is so powerless to reverse the death penalty of young Vui Kong who was deceived into “carting” a mere 47g of heroin? Is bringing 47g of forbidden substance so dangerous a crime that the courier has to be executed without mercy, as though he has just blast off the tallest building in S’pore. The saddest part is he is a filial son to his mum, despite the fact that he came from a poor and broken home. He was basically fending for himself and trying to support his family like a typical responsible oldest(?) child, not yet an adult. Kesian him, la! I hope the S’pore President will PARDON him and not act like some tyrannical bigot of a primitive era, who cannot be reasoned to show compassion on the ignorant and unfortunate young boy. For such a minute amount, they have to kill him…whoever decides to end his life is a cold-blooded, blood-thirsty and violent MURDERER!

    • Joe says:

47g here is pure heroin. The amount of drugs he bring into Singapore is 900g which can make 4500 tube and each tube is sold for 30SGD – 50SGD.
Sentence to death might not proper but hefty punishment is needed.

  36. Eugene Teoh says:

To Mr. President (Singapore), we know that this is a serious crime case, but he is too young and this is not a murder case. We please to you, please give him a second chance. Since he is just 19 years old at that time, the purpose of law is to educate ppl especially teenager. Please, at least not to hang him but educate.

  37. Yuley says:

To Mr. President (Singapore), pls consider on this. Why so many ppl (from worldwide) sign on this blog and please to you? We hope that Singapore can give a second chance to him. He is just a “sheep”, the person should be hanged is the person behind him who asked him to do this thing.

  38. simon says:

well,he shold hve known better. To me,he deserve it,his 2nd chance is always there…in HELL….well done Singapore…we dont need others to teach us how to suck balls

    • Simomania says:

How do you feel if He is your son? Use common sense when you post a comment.

    • anak sarawak says:

Simon, God will judge you with the judgement you judge others. Be forewarned! If you have never been a hardcore poor kid taken out of school at the very tender age of 11 to work as a labourer in an oil palm plantation to help ease your mum’s financial burden, and to help feed your younger siblings, you are not qualified to pass judgement on Yong! Given his background, I doubt if you would survive. The root cause of Yong’s problem was a combination of extreme poverty + illiteracy + a broken home with NO father to be his good mentor or role model. Would you do better than him, given that kind of background? Your attitude shows you are very much a spoilt brat or you have the mentality of a samseng…which one?

  39. cid says:

too young.. better give him a chance

  40. aggie w. says:

Pls have mercy on this young man. Its too cruel to end his life so soon. I am sure he has deeply regretted his actions and he is just a victim of circumstances. Pity his family too esp his mom who pined for her son but not knowing if she can ever see him again. I pray for his early release and may he soon join his family to start a new life again.

  41. vincent chung says:

give him a second chance hes too young tht time to understand the ugly side.

  42. CH'NG says:

    Dear Mr.President of Singapore,
We do respect your country law and order but in this situation, we believe Mr. President you do have that heart of mercy like us. You can educate this young man but please don’t take away his life. After all, life is given not to take away. In everyday, life is so easy to take away by accident or violent act. But it is so difficult to save life. An ant also have life. So please forgive him and let him have back the nature of life
    (ie. Born,Old,Sick,Death)

  43. Thana says:

May our beloved will have mercy on Yoon Vui Kong…Aman.

  44. Thana says:

May our beloved GOD in heaven will have mercy on Vui Kong…Aman.

    Ya Allah bapaku disurga…ampaunilah…Vui Kong..Aman.

  45. Simon Tay says:

Vui Kong is just a lost kid — he need guidance, NOT death penalty.
Please have mercy on him — don’t hang him. Just like everybody, Vui Kong too deserve a second chance.

  46. Lo Mei Loh says:

It is just too easy to take a life and every one of us has that capacity to do so but not many of us have the power to grant life. You have that, Singapore, be merciful and receive mercy in return.

  47. SS Tan says:

Give him a second chance, I think if God will have to decide, he will do so.

  48. eric chew says:

    Dear Mr.President of Singapore,
Since 1985 i come down singapore working till now , We do respect your country law and order but in this situation, we believe Mr. President you do have that heart of mercy like us. 49. CM Chong says:

We should follow the law all the time; anytime anywhere; but yet, i believe besides just follow the law and regulation, we should add in some consideration, or we should call it justification.
Take away his life doesn’t meanful in any field, but it will be meanful if we could educate this young man, and let him tell the world especially those lost direction young man, ” Don’t even touch with any Drug” .

Hope some condesideration will take before the life taken.

  52. GANESON says:

While drugs can destroy a community, no doubt-there should be an iota of pardon for people who are as young as Yong Vui Kong who may have taken/forced into it by vested interests. Grant him a presidential pardon and see a new leaf sprouting out, Mr President. Thank You.

  53. AppleLee says:

Every man deserves the 2nd chance.
He is a young man who was trapped in wrong direction. Singapore, please free his already painful soul and guide him the correct path. The drug barons , should be traced down, like the terrorist. Saving Vui Kong is not sending a message to them to use young man. May God bless Singapore too.

  57. khisen says:

What is he done may be without his knowledge…….hang a boy in this age ,wont change the number of drug trafficers…Pls give him a 2nd chance

  58. YT says:

No one is perfect in this world no matter who you are . We all made mistakes , big or small . At his age of 18 and from a broken family . Shouldn’t we give him a second chance to live ? Hang him will never benefit anyone here . Let him do his part to give his best to contribute to this world to save life. If he failed as what he pledged and make the same mistake , then we HANG HIM TWICE !!!! LOVE can change the world and everyone’s life .

  59. minds says:

show no mercy to drug dealer but not for this boy.hopefully singapore will not talk about how much money need to spend into this boy if pardon him to life in prison.

  60. concerned says:

vui kong will live to teach the youngsters the fear of drug trafficking coz i believe the singapore President will give him the chance to repent and go on with his life. hanging means a life is gone but giving him a second chance will eventually save many of our mislead children from going into this wrong path if vui kong is to share his life story with the school childrens. please spare him so that at least some of the future generations will learn from his mistake. his did a mistake and not a crime as he was still young. he definitely dont deserve death penalty. there are so many souls who dont actually know vui kong are pleading for him. doesnt that show that God of mercy is still around us and she is also with you. please save him and thank you in advance.

This is call HUMAN which is back to the ORIGINAL HUMAN KIND. Please take away all kind of method of control as the Original Human Kind Power are much more powerful compare with any kind of punishment. Please FREE HIM.

  63. Phuah Sim Chuan says:

    Dear Mr. President Sir,
We always know young people always do things on a whim and fancy. They always do things without thinking and regret it later. As an adult I believe everyone has gone through the experience including you, Sir, and myself too. Young people are always tempted by temptation and always do things that they regret later.
Some young people are fortunate that they come from loving and kind family and they do not need to fend for themselves. So they are less tempted to commit crime to satisfy their basic needs. It is sad and pity for this young man, Yong Vui Kong. He came from a hardcore poor and broken family. His father left them at a tender age while his mother suffered from depression. Being the eldest he had no choice but do everything he could to provide for his mother and siblings. Pitifully leaving school at the tender age of eleven would not provide him with any proper surviving skills.
In his situation of despair to earn a few dollars to ease his family’s suffering, he made a desperate choice. I believe anyone in his shoes in desperation would take this deadly chance. It is a pity that he took it.
Sir, let us take him as our son for a moment.Let’s feel his suffering. Let’s feel his sadness. Let’s feel his desperation. Let’s feel his anguish in life. Let’s feel his destitution. And he committed this crime for a few dollars to fend for his family.
Sir, let us forgive this son. Sir, let us forgive this human being. Sir, let us forgive this young man. Sir, let us give this young man a second chance. Sir, let us spare this young man.
Sir, I plead and beg that Mr. President, Sir, would spare Yong Vui Kong his life. I pray Mr. President,Sir, would give Yong Vui Kong a merciful consideration. I also pray that God will blessMr. President and all Singaporeans for this compassionate consideration. Amen.

  64. Hassan Ebrihim says:

Vui Kong has comitted a very serious crime that carries the death sentence. I am sure he is aware of the consequences before he agreed to carry the drugs. But considering his age and family background I think he deserves a second chance to live. But by simply granting him a pardon and let him go free is too easy. By doing this could encourage future Vui Kongs. Spare his life but he need to spend more time in prison so that Vui Kong will learn how precious life is and value freedom after his release.

Dear Singapore show the world that you have a heart. Give Vui Kong a second chance.

  65. Phuah Sim Chuan says:

I agreed wholeheartedly with Hassan Ebrihim. Spare his life and sentence him to prison . Let him educate the public on the evils of drug abuse. Let’s give him a chance to warn the young generation of its evil. Let’s give him life. By giving him a second chance think of all the good things that he can contribute to society. Advice from a reformed Vui Kong is worth a million times from the advice of drug counsellors.

  66. Adam Lim zs says:
